🗓️ Which test do I take?

It depends on the date you filed Form N-400 (Application for Naturalization):

  • Filed before October 20, 2025 → 2008 test. 100 questions. The officer asks up to 10; you need 6 correct.
  • Filed on or after October 20, 2025 → 2025 test. 128 questions. The officer asks up to 20; you need 12 correct (the test ends if you miss 9).
  • 65/20: if you are 65 or older and have been a permanent resident for 20 years or more, you study only the 20 questions marked with an asterisk (*) on either test. The officer asks 10; you need 6 correct. You may take the civics test in the language of your choice.

Our books cover the 2025 test (128 questions, and the 20 marked questions for 65/20).
