Freedom to Belong, Inc. (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates freedomtobelong.org and related tools (the “Service”).

This page describes how we collect, use, and share personal information. By using the Service, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

• Contact & forms: name, email, phone/WhatsApp, language preference, message content (need-help, contact, class registration, membership, volunteer).
• Student portal: name, email, password (hashed), phone, language, membership tier notes, class progress you choose to save.
• Technical: IP address, browser type, pages visited, approximate times (logs and privacy-friendly analytics).
• Donations: payment processing is handled by Zeffy or similar providers; we receive confirmation details they share (name, email, amount), not full card numbers.

How we use information

• Respond to help requests and route people to free education programs
• Operate the student portal, Zoom class coordination, and volunteer matching
• Send service messages (account welcome, class reminders) when you opt in or create an account
• Improve the website, simulator, and educational tools
• Meet legal, safety, and nonprofit compliance obligations

Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We may share limited data with:

• Service providers who host forms, email, payments, or infrastructure (e.g. Netlify, FormSubmit, Resend, Zeffy) under their own terms
• Volunteers / staff bound to use data only for the mission
• Legal authorities when required by law

Private companies (including US Legal Now) are separate entities. We do not share your data with them unless you ask us to or you engage them yourself.

Cookies & local storage

We use cookies or local storage for language preference, login sessions, study progress, and basic analytics. You can clear browser data at any time; some features may stop working without storage.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards (HTTPS, hashed passwords, access controls). No method is 100% secure.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Your choices

• Email help@freedomtobelong.org to correct or delete account data when feasible
• Stop using the site or close a portal account by contacting us
• Unsubscribe from optional emails using the instructions in the message
