🏛 1️⃣ How Does the Naturalization Test Work?
The citizenship test has two main parts:
📖 English Test
- Oral Comprehension: The USCIS officer will ask questions about your application.
- Reading: You must correctly read one sentence in English.
- Writing: You must correctly write one sentence in English.
🇺🇸 Civics Test
- The officer will ask 10 questions selected from a list of 100.
- You need to answer 6 out of 10 correctly to pass.

The test questions are divided into different categories:
🏛 Principles of American Government
- What is the supreme law of the land?
- Answer: The Constitution | La Constitución
- The idea of self-government is in the first three words of the Constitution. What are these words?
- Answer: We the People | Nosotros, el pueblo
⚖ Rights and Responsibilities
- What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment?
- Answer: Freedom of speech | Libertad de expresión
- What is one responsibility that is only for United States citizens?
- Answer: Vote in a federal election | Votar en una elección federal
📜 American History
- Who was the first President of the United States?
- Answer: George Washington
- What did the Declaration of Independence do?
- Answer: Declared independence from Great Britain | Declaró la independencia de Gran Bretaña
🌎 Geography
- What is the capital of the United States?
- Answer: Washington, D.C.
- Name one of the two longest rivers in the United States.
- Answer: Mississippi River | Río Mississippi

🎯 3️⃣ Test Exceptions and Exemptions
Some applicants may qualify for exemptions or accommodations:
🔹 Age + Length of Residency:
- 50 years old + 20 years as a legal resident: Can take the civics test in their native language.
- 55 years old + 15 years as a legal resident: Can take the civics test in their native language.
- 65 years old + 20 years as a legal resident: Takes a reduced test (20 questions instead of 100).
🔹 Medical Disabilities:
- Applicants with physical, developmental, or mental disabilities may request an exemption from the language and/or civics test requirements.
- A licensed medical professional must complete Form N-648 certifying the applicant’s medical condition.
